About Catamount Zip Tour

Longest Zipline Span in the USA!

The Catamount Zip Tour is unlike any other zipline tour in the area. This two-hour outdoor experience includes three dual-zipline spans and a chairlift ride up the mountain. Our unique braking system allows you to control your speed — race each other down our dual-spans at speeds of up to 55+ mph, or take it nice and slow while soaking in the magnificent views of the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley. The final span of the tour is dubbed the “Cata-monster” and is the longest zipline span in the USA at just over 1 mile long.

Zip Line FAQ's

How long is the zip tour?

The entire zip tour lasts approximately 2-hours. This includes safety training and being fitted for a harness.

Are there any age, height, and weight restrictions?

All Zip Tour participants must be at least 10 years old and 55 inches tall. Minimum weight is 50lbs and maximum weight is 260 lbs.

This activity is not recommended for guests who are or may be pregnant and those who have or may have heart conditions, high blood pressure, history of back, neck, or bone injuries, recent surgery or any other current physical or mental illness.

This is a high-speed cable ride with customer-operated braking and will require low to moderate physical strength and stamina.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the season, but avoid loose clothing that could tangle in ropes or other gear. Skirts or short shorts should be avoided. In late fall or winter months, it is better to come with too many articles of clothing than not enough. We go in the rain, so come prepared with rain gear if needed.

Spring & Summer Wear

  • Close-toed shoes (hiking boots or sturdy sneakers) For your safety, no sandals or flip-flops will be permitted.

  • Light jacket, fleece top, or sweater

  • Rain jacket with hood

  • Light pants

  • Comfortable longer shorts (chafing from the harness could occur with short shorts)

  • Spaghetti strap shirts are not recommended.

Late Fall or Winter Wear

  • Hat or balaclava that will fit under a climbing helmet

  • Wool or synthetic long underwear top and bottom

  • Insulated ski jacket or layers of fleece with a weatherproof shell

  • Wool or Fleece socks

  • Thin gloves (gloves can help your hands stay warm on a cool day)

  • Ski pants on especially cold days

  • Boots (insulated)

You should remove any dangling jewelry and tie long hair back. You will be asked to remove all items from your pockets before going on the tour. If you plan on bringing a camera, smaller cameras with a lanyard are best. If you bring your phone to take pictures you run the risk of dropping or otherwise damaging your phone. Items you bring on the tour may get lost along the course. Please leave valuables in the car.

Is there a place to store my belongings?

You may leave personal belonging in the Zip Tour room after getting on your harness - but we suggest all valuables be left in your vehicle. All items kept on you should be in a zippered pocket or securely fastened to yourself. Catamount is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

How fast is the zip line?

Our ziplines use a unique braking system that allows the user to control their own speed. Speeds on the Catamonster zipline can reach in excess of 55 miles per hour.
