This happens to be the highest waterfall in the state. Try this 1.6-mile out-and-back trail near Copake Falls, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 44 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
French Park, North Egremont, is the Town's most notable recreation area, comprising 144 acres. Park visitors will discover a playground, two professional tennis courts, two pickleball courts, an adult fitness playground, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a horse rink, the French Park Dog Park, a Little League field, a softball field, community and pollinator gardens, a pavilion, a bandstand, a two-and-one-half mile trail network and a skating rink in winter.
Located behind Town Hall in Downtown Great Barrington, Giggle Park is an excellent place for kids to play or just to relax and enjoy some fresh air. The park includes a fenced in playground area, gazebo, and large grassy area to enjoy.
The Roeliff Jansen Park entrance is located on Route 22, one half-mile south of the Hillsdale light on the east side of the road. The park includes multiple trails, access to the Roeliff Jansen Kill, several picnic areas, a dog run, a farmers market, and much more.
The Copake Iron Works was established in 1845 along the Bash Bish Brook at the base of the Taconic Ridge. In 2007, the Iron Works site and 18 acres surrounding the area were listed on the State and National Register of Historic Sites. The Copake Iron Works Historic District comprises all of the buildings in the Iron Works area, the historic blast furnace, three workers’ houses, and the now-flooded ore pit, as well as the previously National Register-listed Church of St. John in the Wilderness. The public is welcome and urged to visit the Copake Iron Works Historic District.
